Bruce Campbell promises a much bigger Evil Dead movie in next outing

Some fun news tonight for fans of the Deadites as Bruce Campbell reveals some details about the new Evil Dead movie which he, sadly, won’t be in.

In June the star revealed the title and details of the movie (here), saying:  We’re just getting off the phone with Lee Cronin, who is writing and directing the next Evil Dead.

“It’s called Evil Dead Now. Sam handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called The Hole In The Ground. We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical.”

Now, apparently the movie has had its title changed to Evil Dead rise since then – not going to lie, that one got past me – and Campbell has teased a bigger canvas than we’re used to in the Evil Dead movies.

During a Q&A at Campbell’s Keep Your Distance tour, the star revealed that instead of a cabin in the woods (three time!) or a medieval castle (once!) the movie will see the deadites running rampage in a skyscraper and as if that’s not cool enough, “The Evil Dead are going to **** up a city this time.”

While ideally I’d want Campbell back – his clashing with the dead has become the stuff of legend with three movies and a crazy good series behind him – but given how much I loved the Evil Dead reboot, I’m confident that Ash isn’t the been all and end all of killing Deadites.

But, despite him being a producer and no doubt heavily involved in the movie’s behind the scenes, he’ll be missed by fans.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts on this one, guys!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
