So far we know that the females are getting a mixed bag when it comes to the Ant-man movie with Janet Van Dyne being rumoured dead in the script and being replaced by Hope who is the Red Queen in the MC2 universe.
My head hurts.
But one thing that does look promising is that Cassie Lang is going to appear. Director Peyton Reed, talking to Screenrant, confirmed that Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) daughter will be in there, which makes sense since the movie seems to be loosely based on the story in the comics called To Steal An Ant-man and Cassie played a big role in that tale: “in the comics Scott Lang has a daughter, and that’s part of the movie,” confirmed Reed.
Now, we know that Marvel have cast Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne rather than Janet Van Dyne, but we think it’s a safe bet that Marvel will stick to the comics with this plot point and Lang’s daughter will remain Cassie.
He also confirmed (again) that it will be a passing of the torch movie and is most certainly a heist movie too.
For the record, if Hank (Douglas) is an older Ant-man and his wife Janet is already dead, that means that Lang (Paul Rudd) could be the primary Ant-man in the Marvel movies but it allows the possibility of the original Ant-man and Wasp being explored in the future. So while Janet MAY be dead, it by no means means she doesn’t exist in the Marvel movies. Confused? Good…
Ant-man will hit the big screen on July 17th, 2015.
