It looks like John Wick director Chad Stahelski is set to become the Kevin Feige-like figure of not just one but two massive franchises
Stahelski will be overseeing the development of the already up-and-running John Wick universe and will also be developing the world of the Highlander, providing his upcoming reboot of the series about a group of immortals battling each other for the ultimate prize and starring Superman himself, Henry Cavill, delivers the goods.
Highlander is Stahelski’s next directing project and he will be developing it and John Wick’s worlds under the banner of 87Eleven, co-founded with David Leitch, and he will develop a “comprehensive multiplatform content strategy for both franchises [and] guide the short- and long-term creative direction, franchise strategy and strategic growth of these two iconic properties to ensure that quality, tone and vision remain consistent.”
Chad Stahelski talks his Highlander reboot and also pulling in the lore from the TV show
He won’t be doing it completely alone as he’ll be working Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee on the John Wick universe and Neal H. Moritz and the estate of the late Peter S Davis on Highlander.
Stahelski has previously revealed plans for more series, movies and even anime set in the John Wick world, so we can expect similar for Highlander if it’s a success… after all, there are more immortals whose stories can be told over a long period of time.

I love the John Wick movies and can’t wait to see it expand – it blows my mind that there’s still only been one comic-book series so far set in that universe – and I can’t wait to see what comes next, with Ballerina starring Ana De Armas set for June 7, being the next part of the wider Wick-verse.
More John Wick spinoffs, a High Table series and – yes! – an anime are in development!
