Christoph Waltz doubts Disney will make an Alita: Battle Angel sequel

April 11th, 2020 by Marc Comments

It looks like Alita: Battle Angel star Christoph Waltz is as confused and in the dark as the rest of us over why the movie never got a sequel

The star, who played Dr Dyson in the movie – essentially Alita’s dad – has been talking about his work on the Robert Rodriguez sci-fi movie and how much he enjoyed the movie and would be keen to come back for a sequel – which was clearly set up and was going to have Edward Norton as the main villain.

Asked if he would come back, he said: “Of course! Of course, I would! But, you know, I’m as wise as you are. I haven’t heard anything and I’m a little disappointed and surprised that I haven’t heard a thing so far, because I know that it has followers.

He goes on to explain how Fox now being owned by Disney may have but an end to any hopes of a part two.

“I know that people liked it and aside from what others said, I loved it and I liked working on it and I liked the result. You know, it was Fox and Fox doesn’t exist anymore. Now it’s Disney. Maybe it doesn’t fit into the Disneyfication, but I have no clue. I have no clue. Maybe they’re working on something and I wouldn’t be the first person to hear, but meanwhile, I haven’t heard anything.”

I was a big fan of Alita: Battle Angel and actually found myself enjoying it more than I expected and it has actually become one of my relaxation/background movies but honestly, at this stage I expect the chances of ever seeing a sequel are very, very slim.

What did you all think of Alita? Let me know your thoughts…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
