Cillian Murphy officially in talks to return for third 28 Years Later movie

So, I loved 28 Years Later and I’m buzzed for the release of Nia DaCosta’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in January, especially after early word saying it’s absolutely superb… and now we have another reason to be excited as fans of this franchise.

Before the release of 28 years Later in June this year, word was that this was a new trilogy and that star of the original 28 Days Later, Cillian Murphy, would be returning to the franchise almost 25 years after he first appeared, and now it seems that this is true and discussions have begun and Alex Garland, writer of the first, third and fourth movies, is currently developing the story.

28 Years Later and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple were filmed back-to-back with the third instalment waiting to see how the first two were received, and it seems that the success of the first and anticipation of the second chapters has given the studio the confidence to move ahead.

As of now, there’s no director attached, though Danny Boyle has said he’d like to direct and is expected to return.

Thoughts on Cillian Murphy’s return to the franchise that made him a household name? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.
