Concept art for cancelled Doug Liman Justice League Dark movie brings us Swamp Thing, Constantine and Klarion

August 27th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Concept artist Houston Sharp has shared images – one very NSFW – of the planned Justice League Dark movie that had Doug Liman at the helm.

Fans will recall in May 2017 Edge of Tomorrow’s Liman was all in for adapting the darker corner of the DC Cinematic Universe before he had to step down (all details here).

Since then there was talk of it being adapted by Guilermo DelToro before it moved to HBO Max and currently has JJ Abrams attached. But it’s doubtful we’ll see as adult a take as we see here.

Although, given the body horror in DC Universe’s Swamp Thing, nothing would surprise me.

The images (above and below) show Swamp Thing becoming a giant tree-like monster as his swamp is burned by a bunch of guys while another features Klarion – a boy’s corpse possessed by flies – asking John Constantine an awkward question at an, em, awkward moment.

Anyway, the art is a nice peek into a world that never was, and as a fan of DC I always love to see this stuff. Now, hopefully, we’ll eventually get the JLD onscreen in the near future.

Let me know your thoughts, gang.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
