Concept art reveals how great Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s Kilowog looks

April 18th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Oooooh… another fun little detail from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Or rather, a detail of what could have been.

In the movie, we get a very brief look at the Green Lantern Kilowog – the toughest of all the Lanterns and the one who trains the newcomers – lying dead in Cyborg’s vision of the Knightmare future but it’s hard to make out any details and, honestly, if you blinked you’d miss it.

However, now concept artist Jerad S.Marant has shared looks at various characters from the movie and in there is a great, detailed look at Kilowog and, man, he looks great.

We know that Snyder had big plans for the Green Lantern Corp in the movie but was stopped from using them in any significant way by Warner Bros who are currently developing a Green Lantern Corp series at HBO Max and, as such, he had to rethink one of the key scenes in the movie (here).

It seems that the scene at the end of the movie where Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) met the Martian Manhunter was originally set to feature a Green Lantern – likely John Stewart – but word is that it would also have featured Kilowog. UPDATE: This has been confirmed at JusticeCon 2021 here.

And, while that would have been very cool, we did get Martian Manhunter and we know that Kilowog and the others will be big players in the HBO Max series.

So, check out the art below and let us know what you all think.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
