Ok, hear us out first before you spiral into a downspin.

Sony, who still owns the rights to Spider-Man if you recall, has hired Tom Rothman as head of the Sony Motion Picture Group.

What does this matter you may ask? Well, Rothman has a certain history when it comes to superhero films. It was him who interfered in the development of Wolverine: Origins. He also had a hand in making X-Men: The Last Stand. Further, as tweets will prove, he single-handedly stopped the Deadpool movie from being developed at Fox. Ironically, he was let go by Fox for “lackluster performance”…you don’t say?

Now to be fair, it’s possible he’ll have no input on the movies. Especially with Amy Pascal and Kevin Fiege leading the crew in regards to Spider-Man…but it does make you pause…
