A lot of rumours have been floating around the internet that we’ll be seeing what is probably the biggest X-Men story of all in the next X-Men movie.

On the latest episode of Heroic Scoop Drop they report that they are hearing from studio sources that The Dark Phoenix Saga, in which Jean Grey sees her powers consume and corrupt her, transforming her into the unstoppable Dark Phoenix, may well be the next X-Men outing.

We know that director Bryan Singer is interested in coming back and now that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner is playing the younger Jean Grey, we reckon this could be something we’ll see soon enough.

Recently Producer Simon Kinberg said: “I think everything that hasn’t been told from First Class and Days of Future Past is up for grabs going forward, so it would absolutely be a story we could tell in a different way. And Jean she has not only has her telekenisis and her telepathy but she also knows inherently that something darker and more powerful is growing inside her and she doesn’t quite know what it is.”

It certainly sounds like Phoenix is coming and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out since it was pretty hand-fistedly tackled in X3 and, given that Singer wanted to direct that one, it looks like he many get the often fabled second chance…

Keep scrolling for a very cool/fun video from X-Men: Apocalypse.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. En Sabah Nur (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse also stars Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till as Havok and newcomers Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee.

Said to be the conclusion of a trilogy started with X-Men: First Class and continued with X-Men: Days of Future Past, the Bryan Singer directed X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 27, 2016.
