Having been connected so closely with the Fast and Furious franchise since it first rode onto our screens in 2001, could it be the case that the series’ own Vin Diesel could be stepping up to direct its eighth instalment?
With Diesel stating recently that he wants to bring the story to a close with one more trilogy of films (yep, not one more film, but one more trilogy) he was a bit vague on who would direct.
In a post you can see in its entirety on Deadline, it seems that the actor may be throwing his hat into the ring to helm the project. He says in the post: “I will share something crazy that my mother said six months ago after the studio had me announce the date for 8 to the world… ‘Either you direct 8 yourself… or don’t do it.'”
Seemingly taking these words to heart, he doesn’t go on to deny that the notion interests him, but goes on to say of the script “has to be great. Hopefully the writer will deliver something within the next two weeks… before my Witch Hunter press tour begins.”
So the momentum is building, by the looks of things. Diesel’s diehard attitude towards the franchise doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, but will he now step behind the camera as well as in front?
