August 24th, 2019 by Marc Comments

Other news from the movie section of D23…

First up, Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise has new artwork:

How about Emma Stone as Cruella DeVil in the new live-action  Cruella. The film, also starring Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry, comes to theaters May 28, 2021.

Jon Batiste is writing original jazz songs for Soul, Pixar’s next big adventure, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are doing the score!

Jamie Foxx will star as Joe, a middle school band teacher with ambitions of being a jazz artist who dies and finds himself in an otherworldly workshop where souls are given personality traits before getting bodies. Joining Foxx is Tina Fey as a character named 22 who is described as “a new soul with a loathing for earth”.

A new still was released from Pixar’s Onward starring MCU stars – well, one of them – Tom Holland and Chris Pratt:

And a poster:

Now, on to everyone’s favourite yellow family:

The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean has teased that they “have talked about”  a potential second movie and, yes, a spinoff series.

It has been revealed that new animated movie Raya and the Last Dragon inspired by a Southeast Asia-inspired fantasy adventure will arrive on Thanksgiving 2020 and is written by Adele Lim (Crazy Rich Asians) and directed by Paul Briggs ad Dean Wellins. Raya is played by Cassie Steele, while Sisu the Dragon is voiced by Awkwafina.

On Frozen 2’s plot we learned it will explore the big question: “Why does Elsa have powers?” say writers Lee and Buck.

It will also explore why Anna does not have powers and where were their parents going when the ship went down. And is there really such a thing as happily ever after?

Oh, here’s a poster and a couple of images:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
