So, it looks like footage from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was shown at D23 but won’t be released to us common folk.
So, what happened?
Well, word is the footage had a montage from all the movies so far, footage of Rey, Finn and Poe, big spaceships, underwater fights and more but the footage that did have a couple of interesting things.
Firstly, Rey appeared in Sith robes wielding a Darth Maul-esque double-bladed red lightsaber (check out the cool art based on it above) and secondly… Emperor Palpatine was talking to her!
Now, in an interview at the event Daisy Ridley said to reporters that she was shocked they showed that in the footage but I doubt that’s true.
Could this be a misdirect? A flashback, perhaps? Who knows… hopefully we’ll all see the footage soon, thought.
