It has been a long and rocky road to getting a new Ghostbusters. It may not be exactly what the fans were expecting, but it’s hard to believe that it is actually happening. As more and more news gets released for it, I find myself getting more excited.

This excitement has reached a fever pitch now, as Dan Ackroyd discussed the script for the film in an interview at the Lifetime Achievement Awards. While Ackroyd’s words were limited, as he could not disclose the story yet, he had nothing but positive words to say about the script, adding, “those girls are gonna kill it”.

Ackroyd also states that: “We need women Ghostbusters, so you’ll have a bunch of kids there who’ve never seen it before and they’re gonna see it and go back and watch the other two, and so that’s a great way to keep it alive”.

This is all very high praise, coming from the father of the Ghostbusters franchise (and co-writer of this one), though perhaps this should also be taken with a slight grain of salt. Ackroyd is also the executive producer of the film, so he does have some stake in its success.

However, this all still does fill me with excitement, and Ackroyd certainly did seem confident in the team that has been assembled. I have to tell someone else about this… Who am I going to call?
