It looks like some details have been released about the upcoming New Gods movie over at DC/Warners.
A new report from Discussing Film has revealed that, as expected, the movie will focus on a few of the big hitters at DC comics.
A Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay is teaming with screenwriter Kario Salem on the movie and word is the “script will focus on Big Barda and Mister Miracle escaping Apocalypse and will feature sub-plots focused on other New Gods. The film will feature The Furies as the main villains and Darksied may make his first live-action debut also.”
The frustrating thing here is that the movie seems to be a direct link to the Justice League movie that Zack Snyder originally wanted to make that would have culminated with Darkseid’s reveal and his plan to come to earth after the defeat of his minion, Steppenwolf.
That said, what’s done is done (#releasethesnydercut) and this movie could be the Lord of the Rings of the DC universe.
The report also adds a few more details to upcoming DC movies.
The Batman:
Batman/Bruce Wayne in the movie will be between 25 and 33 years old and will most likely not go for an unknown actor.
Matt Reeves’ script is almost complete. The movie will focus more on Batman’s skills as a detective as the film will centred around a mystery that Batman will have to solve, the film will also be set in the 1990s.
Penguin will be the main villain but the movie will feature a range of bad guys from Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery – want to be bet we’ll see wind-up, exploding penguins?
We’ll also meet a younger James Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth with the movie expected to film in November.
Suicide Squad:
As reported before, the movie is likely to feature Ratcatcher, King Shark, Peacemaker, Polka Dot Man and the big new addition is… Killer Frost.
The story will focus on the squad going on a mission to the Middle East to stop Onslaught and infiltrate their headquarters in Qurac. Filming is expected to film on September 9th in Atlanta.
Supergirl:
The film’s current story will see Kara in high school and will be set in the 1970s. There will also be a lot of the movie set on Krypton.
Brainiac is expected to be the villain. However, it should be noted that the movie is currently being re-written by Oren Uziel.
Supergirl is – as expected – being lined up to replace Henry Cavill who is currently not expected to return as Superman.
Other movies:
DC/Warners have several movies in early production including Plastic Man, Batgirl and Blue Beetle, Green Lantern Corps, Justice League Dark and Gotham City Sirens, all of which are still ‘active’ and could be part fo the future of the franchise.
