You may recall a few days back we reported that Scream star Neve Campbell was hopeful that she would be returning for the upcoming fifth Scream movie and now we have confirmation that one of the other main cast members are already back for more.
David Arquette, who plays the lovable Dewey Riley in the franchise is back for one more tussle with the killer.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, directors of the superb Ready Or Not, are bringing Wes Craven’s genre-bending franchise back for a fifth stab.
The movie will be an original tale co-written by James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, Castle Rock).
Arquette said: “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my ‘Scream’ family, old and new. Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honouring Wes Craven’s legacy.”
Word is that they are keen to get Campbell and Courtenay Cox to return for the fifth outing too.
I’m always keen for a new Scream outing as I’m a big fan of the franchise – well, except for 3 – and I think the guys behind Ready or Not could do wonderful things with the story but, I have to say, is surely Dewey can’t escape death another time… can he?
Let me know your thoughts, gang.
