DC FANDOME: Posters, teaser, behind-the-scenes, and a full breakdown of who is playing what characters in The Suicide Squad

August 22nd, 2020 by Marc Comments

We finally have our first look at The Suicide Squad and it has King Shark eating a guy!

Honestly, what else do you need?  Well, James Gunn and the cast got together and gave us two fun clips from the movie (below) and, on top of that, we finally know who will make up Task Force X this time out,

WATCH THE FULL PANEL AND MORE HERE

Here’s the full cast and who they play:

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
Robbie’s back for a third outing as Harley Quinn after Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey (And The Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn).

Viola Davis as Amanda Waller
Davis is back as the mean, take no nonsense commander of Task Force X.

Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag
Rick Flag is returning as the leader of Task Force X with a nice new yellow teeshirt.

Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang
Courtney’s Captain Boomerang was one of the best parts of the first Suicide Squad movie and we can’t wait to see the coolest Brony on the planet returning.

Idris Elba as Bloodsport
Elba joins the team as Bloodsport, a mercenary who, in the comics, made his name when he shot Superman with Kryptonite bullets. Would love to see that in the movie.

John Cena as Peacemaker
John Cena’s Peacemaker is described by the actor as a douchbag Captain America and he wants peace so badly he’ll kill anyone getting in its way.

Sean Gunn as Weasel
Gunn, brother of James, plays what looks like Rocket Raccoon’s rabbid cousin here as CGI creation Weasel. Who is literally a manzised, em, weasel.

Steve Agee as King Shark
Agee plays King Shark or rather is the liveaction actor behind the CGI creation. We’re hearing Taika Waititi is voicing him but no confirmation yet.

Michael Rooker as Savant
James Gunn’s long time friend and muse, here Rooker plays Savant, a genius with a chemical imbalance that causes him to be forgetful.

Nathan Fillion as T.D.K.
While we’re not sure what TDK stands for, given the characters logo it seems safe to say he’s playing Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, a character who can remove his arms and beat people with them. And his logo clearly hints at arms removed from the elbows.

Pete Davidson as Blackguard
Davidson made a name for himself earlier this year int he superb King of Staten Island and here he plays Blackguard who is heavily armoured and can create a baton and shield made out of pure energy.

Peter Capaldi as The Thinker
Aw, I hoped he was Mr Freeze. Anyway, the ex-Doctor Who star Capaldi plays the evil genius who also is master of telekinesis and mind-control. Capaldi will kill this role.

Alice Braga as Sol Soria
Soria is a gender bent version of Juan Soria, who injects nanites into his hands to become a superhero, but – you guessed it – becomes a villain instead.

Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2
Ratcatcher troubled Gotham City in the 90s with his ability to control and use rats to commit robbery etc. Here the new Ratcatcher is played by Melchoir.

David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man
Dark Knight and Ant-man star Dastmalchian returns to Gotham for the third time (he is also in the Gotham series) as the crazy character who can use the polka-dots on his suit for different tasks and tools. I have no idea how this will work on screen but I can’t wait to find out.

Mayling Ng as Mongal
Mongul’s father – Mogul the Elder –  was a creature as powerful as Superman in the comics and his daughter isn’t too far behind either. She’s an enemy of Superman and Green Lantern in the comics and it’ll be fun to see how she fits in to this crazy tale.

Flula Borg as Javelin
Borg’s Javelin is a former Olympic athlete who competed for Germany before turning to a life of crime.

The Suicide Squad hits cinemas on August 6th, 2021 and I can’t wait.

Here’s the first teaser of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad:

And here’s a very cool behind the scenes:

Here’s some cool promo art:

Here’s a couple of images of the team:

And, of course, the beautiful Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie:

Oh, and spot the difference between the two official posters:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
