So, another of the most anticipated panels from DC Fandome tonight was the one for Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring new Bruce Wayne/Batman Robert Pattinson.
Before Reeves took to the stage we learned some details about the movie before seeing a frame.
Warners Bros boss Walter Hamada explained that Reeves is working on a separate, more realistic Gotham City that isn’t part of the shared DCEU inhabited by Affleck, Gadot, Miller, Momoa and Cavill, but rather – as was suspected by many (although I hoped it wouldn’t be the case) – will be its own, fresh, standalone world.
He also confirmed that this Batman is in his second year as the Dark Knight. The Gotham PD series he’s developing for HBO Max, on the other hand, will take place before the movie during Batman’s first year. It will also tackle corruption in the GCPD.
During the panel Reeves revealed that Pattinson had a lot of input in the creation of the batsuit and Reeves talked to Christian Bale who advised him to make sure Pattison could ‘relieve himself’ in the suit or, as Reeves out it, ‘live as a human being’.

Will we see new Superman, Wonder Woman and co? Who knows at this stage.
However, with Affleck (yay!) returning to the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne for The Flash movie, we’ll have a large, shared universe, aside from Pattinson, to go onwards with movies like Black Adam, Shazam! 2, The Suicide Squad (more on all them later), so don’t worry.
It’s clear that the multiverse being set up in The Flash movie is to allow all these over movies to exist – movies like Joker (Hamada also said he’s happy for more Elseworlds-type movies like Joker to happen in the future providing there’s a reason to tell the story).
Anywaym here’s the trailer and it’s jaw-droppingly good. We know Riddler and Penguin are in here but there’s definitely nods to Joker and Two-Face in here too with the henchmen Batman pummels near the end.
