Deadpool 2 marketing kicks off with poster and issue of, em, Good Housekeeping

November 9th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, the Deadpool 2 marketing extravaganza has begun in style today…

The first poster from 20th Century Fox is official here and it’s a nice sent up of Norman Rockwell’s Thanksgiving painting, Freedom From Want (check it out here) and features Deadpool, Cable, Domino, Colossus, Weasel and Dopinder all gathered around for a nice healthy piece of turkey dinner:

On top of that, we also go another unexpected piece of marketing as Deadpool appeared on the cover of Good Housekeepingthis month… just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes and goodies.

The issue is being handed out across the US – sorry UK and world fans, we get screwed again – and you can see it below, featuring recipes for “D’s Spiced Nuts” and “Creamy Clam Skinny Dip,” you know you’re curious… we sure are.

Jane Francisco, Editor in Chief of Good Housekeeping said of  the issue: “Deadpool’s persistence to be in Good Housekeeping was impressive – initially we had no idea who he was, let alone that he was a fan of the magazine. But after repeated attempts to ignore his… passion… we came to a compromise. He could appear in one issue, if he promised to stop leaving care packages at our editors’ homes and agreed to maintain a 50-foot distance from the Good Housekeeping offices and our staff.”

“After years of weekly emails and countless carrier pigeons, Good Housekeeping finally returned my calls,” says Deadpool. “And while it’s a dream come true, apparently we have vastly different opinions on the definition of a ‘holiday spread’…”

We’re guessing we’ll see a teaser/trailer on Thanksgiving, November 23rd given what we’re seeing here.

Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool Josh Brolin as Cabel, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder. John Wick co-director and Atomic Blonde director David Leitch takes the helm this time around, with Rhett Reeseand Paul Wernick returning to pen the screenplay.

The film opens June 1, 2018.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
