Stand by folks: things may get even more interesting. Sometime in the future, we may actually be treated to Spider-Man/Deadpool crossover, now that Tom Holland’s webcrawler is swinging back into action.

Now, comic book fans are energetically trying to get Spidey teamed up with one of his biggest buddies: our not-so-friendly neighbourhood Deadpool.

During the press day for Fox’s Deadpool Blu-ray release, director Tim Miller and producer Simon Kinberg talked about possibly getting Spider-Man to meet his biggest fan: Deadpool. Miller said:  “Simon and I have been trying to build bridges.”

Is there a chance that Sony’s Spider-Man could one day join forces with Fox’s Deadpool? Sony have built bridges with Marvel so why not Fox?

“I would love to see it. Both of us are close with [Marvel’s] Kevin [Feige], we respect and love Kevin. If it were even remotely possible, we will find a way ’cause we’d would love to see it,” Kinberg said.

Not gonna lie – this is kind of exciting, even though they were clearly only spitballing here. Kinberg, in fact, has produced properties for both Fox (X-Men) and Disney (Star Wars Rebels) so he would definitely be a key figure in brokering any kind of agreement.

He cautioned though: “I just don’t know if it would be possible.”

“My favourite comic books in the old days used to be like DC vs. Marvel, Teen Titans vs. the X-Men or Teen Titans vs. New Mutants. Justice League vs. the Avengers. This could be something like that,” he added optimistically.

Stranger and more unlikely-seeming things have happened. Deadpool’s creative team love the idea and Sony have been open to sharing Spidey with Marvel so, in the future, we could see a movie where the two superheroes team-up.

In the spirit of crossovers, Kinberg also told CraveOnline (via Squareeyed) that “I think we all would [love to cross over the X-Men and Avengers]. And I think there’s so much crossover in the comic it would be neat to see those characters one day share a movie.”

Crossovers are so in right now.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
