Deadpool news round-up!!!

Simon Kinberg, producer of Deadpool and the sequel, has been talking about the second movie’s production and it seems that things are looking very promising, indeed…

According to Den of Geek ‘Deadpool 2 will keep the ethos of the first film. That there won’t suddenly be a massive influx of cash, and the same almost guerrilla-style approach to getting the film made will continue.’

This is a great bit of news as one of the things that worked so well for Deadpool was the look of the movie, the rough and ready feel made the character feel truer to his comic origins.

But that’s not the only good news: “the success of it, I think the result is, we’ll have even more freedom – and they give us an immense amount of freedom – but we’ll have even more creative freedom going forward [on Deadpool 2],” say Kinberg, “and maybe a little more money for the next Deadpool movie”.

In related news, the guys at Nerdist have been chatting to Dolph Lungren about his new movie Kindergarten Cop 2 and the topic of superhero movies came up. The actor was asked if there was any characters he’s be interested in playing – Lungren has played Punisher and He-Man, so he’s no stranger to the genre – and interestingly, he knew who cable was and that the casting is happening soon: “That’s a good question. I haven’t watched a lot of these superhero movies; for some reason, I don’t know, I’m just busy making films. I did hear in… Deadpool, isn’t there a character named Cable that’s coming? Like, he’s a big guy? I guess I could kick some butt doing that, I suppose. We’ll see. When I saw the picture, he looks a little bit like Ivan Drago mixed with Gunner Jensen mixed with… I don’t know.”

The image below was a bit of fan art but we think he may just be the ticket… (continues after picture).

In more related news, we’ll leave you with a couple of fun videos centered on Deadpool.

First up, he dies in a new deleted scene from the movie:

And secondly, who else but Deadpool would turn up in his own Honest Trailer?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
