Though maybe not surprising, it is certainly intriguing to hear that Fox is making the Deadpool movie how it is so that it can be the first in a potential franchise. This comes from T.J. Miller, who plays Weasel, who has stated:
“The movie is about the origin story [of Deadpool], because they want it to be the first installment of a franchise,” said Miller.
Again, this may not be surprising, especially given that there’s talk of crossing Deadpool over with the X-Men movies (properly this time!) somewhere down the line. Making a big impact in the first movie, and securing a franchise, may just be the key to making that happen.
