Did we just get an official tease about the return of Samuel L Jackson as Mace WIndu?

December 27th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Ok, look, we might be reading too much into this, but we can’t help but feel Disney/Lucasfilm just hinted at a return of Mace Windu to the Star Wars universe.

Samuel L Jackson turned 72 0n December 22nd and the official Star Wars Instagram wished him a happy birthday… but it did it in a way they’re bound to have known would get a attention from the Star Wars community.

The post featured a picture of Jackson as Jedi Master Mace Windu with the caption: “The party isn’t over, it’s just beginning! Sending a very happy birthday to Samuel L. Jackson.”

Now, obviously, this is a reference to a birthday party, but it’s also a nod to this line from Attack of the Clones:

Now, of course, it could mean nothing but it could also mean a lot.

A recently as September we reported that Disney+ might be looking to bring Jackson back as Windu (here) and there has been plenty of rumours that he would appear in the Obi-Wan series too (here) and when you tie this into the fact that in canon, both creator George Lucas and Jackson himself have said that, despite having an arm sliced off, being electrocuted and then thrown off a skyscraper by Sheev Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith, Windu is not dead in the Star Wars universe.

Personally, I reckon there’s something in the pipeline… after all, Jackso recently got his won Nick Fury series with Secret Wars, so the idea of him returning as Windu – also with Disney+ – isn’t at all far-fetched, in fact, it makes perfect sense.

What say you all? Would you like to see Jackson return as Windu (the only answer is ‘yes’ by the way)? Let me know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
