Disney+ have edited Splash because they don’t want you to see Daryl Hannah’s bum

Well now, isn’t this a thing?

A sharp-eyed fan has been watching the 1984 hit comedy Splash on the new Disney+ streaming service and noticed a bizarre abundance of hair on Daryl Hannah.

No, really.

The movie, which stars Hannah as a mermaid who washes up in New York and falls in love with Tom Hanks’ everyman, is a silly, fun staple of family entertainment from the 1980s.

But is seems Disney no longer feel the movie is wholesome enough and has decided that children and adults (who may want to) can no longer see Daryl Hannah’s bum as she runs back into the ocean in the scene where she meets – and kisses Hanks’ character.

Here’s the original scene in the 1984 movie in which we see Daryl Hannah’s, em, behind (and rather nice it was too) as she ran into the ocean:

And here’s the footage as it appears on Disney+

This is one of the most bizarre bits of editing I have ever seen… adding a digital wig to the star’s behind is, well, just plain weird…

Check it out above and let me know what you think of the new bum-gate issue.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
