Well, it would seem like the animated line, Pixar, Marvel and the upcoming Star Wars, are not enough blockbuster franchises for Disney. They need another, and it would seem that The Lost Story of Merlin is what they have chosen to fill that void.

For those who are unaware, The Lost Story of Merlin is a series of books written by T.A Barron. There are five books in the series and as the title suggests, it tells the tales of Merlin. However, the stories focus on when Merlin was younger, and how he came to be the great wizard of myth.

While this would normally pass under my radar, with little to no fanfare, there is one piece of information that piqued my curiosity. Fran Walsh (Co-Writer of all the Middle-Earth films) is apparently writing this.

With one of the writers of the greatest work of fantasy, ever to grace the silver screen, this film now has my attention. Here’s hoping that Walsh can bring the magic of Middle-Earth to the world of Arthurian Legend.
