With the teaser for Beauty and the Beast doing big business this week for Disney, it looks like another of their iconic animated movies may be set for the live-action treatment soon.

According to Deadline The Little Mermaid is looking like it could be heading to the big screen with a whole new take.

According to the report “Disney chiefs recently heard a new take and are currently evaluating whether to proceed with the idea. Deadline understands that initial discussions have also taken place with major producers, including some with a strong connection to the studio.”

The story Aerial, the singing mermaid, is also being given the big screen treatment by Universal which has Chloe Grace Moretz starring in a story by Richard Curtis.

Whatever the weather, things always seem to be fine under the seas, huh?
