Dracula Untold kicks off Universal Monsters movies?

October 2nd, 2014 by Marc Comments

Could this weekend’s Dracula Untold actually be the first step in the Universal Monsters movie shared universe?

Well, it seems that, even though Universal aren’t declaring it, it is indeed. We all thought that The Mummy was set to be the first movie in the new series (here), but it seems that the Prince of Darkness, Dracula, might be the man for that job.

SPOILERIFIC STUFF

According to Darkhorizons and Badass Digest, the ball will officially be rolling after this movie: “Dracula Untold includes a coda set in the modern day involving Luke Evans’ Dracula character and the vampire character (turned more human like) played by Charles Dance, both hanging around a market on the streets of a major city.”

SPOILERIFIC STUFF ENDS

Badass Digest are saying that reshoots took place a while back to include this scene. Why? Well, because the same scene will feature in The Mummy movie too.

Worryingly, the idea seems to be that, if Dracula Untold isn’t a success, the scene can be ignored and Dracula introduced again down the line. This is so cowardly… as Yoda said, do or do not. Thoughts?
