The Conjuring prequel movie is moving ahead at New Line as horror continues to be a big draw.
I reported on Halloween last year – apt – that a prequel to the incredibly profitable Conjuring series was planned and now we have some small details.
Featuring a younger Ed and Lorraine Warren, played in the other movies by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, the movie, now called The Conjuring: First Communion, is likely to have a new cast in the roles of the real(ish) life ghost and demon hunters.
As previously reported, short film director Rodrigue Huart is in talks to direct, with Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who co-wrote the last three Conjuring movies and The Nun II, on writing duties.

The new movie is set for release on September 10, 2027.
As well as this entry, there’s also a Conjuring TV series in pre-production, which we still know nothing about. There’s also The Curse of La Llorona in production with Santiago Menghini directing. The sequel to La Llorona will star Jay Hernandez and Monica Raymund, alongside returning star Raymond Cruz as the curandero.
The Conjuring universe consists not just of those movies but also the Nun, Annabelle and La Llorona movies,
See you guys back in theaters in 2027.
