FIRST LOOK: Here’s Aquaman villain Black Manta… plus Orm, Queen Atlanna and Vulko

June 14th, 2018 by Marc Comments

We reported yesterday that in James Wan’s Aquaman movie coming later this year, the characters would have a different way of communicating underwater than previously seen in Justice League. We also reported that the trailer would likely drop this week (here). Well, now Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue is revealing details on the movie, so we reckon the trailer will hit this week as the hype starts here.

While we anticipate more news will drop from the article later today, the big news right out of the gates is that we have our first look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as modern day pirate David Kane AKA Black Manta (below)!

It really looks like they are going full comic book look on the character, which is awesome!

Director Wan said of the character: “He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space… Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story but our main story is about Jason and Patrick.”

On the movie itself, the director said: “The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film. This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action.”

Honestly, we’re so excited for the trailer that we almost feel embarrassed… are you?
