Flash Gordon movie gets writers… Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

April 23rd, 2014 by Marc Comments

Well it looks like Flash Gordon is set to be saviour of the universe. Again.

Twentieth Century Fox have secured the rights to bring Alex Raymond’s iconic hero to the big screen for the first time since Mike Hodges’ so bad it’s actually really good 1980 sci-fi epic. And the writers tasked with the task of bringing him back are JD Payne and Patrick McKay who have just finished working with Robert Orci on Star Trek 3. A previous script exists and will be the backbone of their work and was written by George Nolfi who wrote Ocean’s Twelve and The Bourne Ultimatum.

According to Aintitcool“This is apparently a sort of passion project for producer John Davis (the PREDATORs, CHRONICLE), who allegedly spent a year (and some of his own money) trying to nail down the rights to the world-famous 80-year-old property.”

No word on directors of stars yet… more as we get it, as always…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
