Four Things the Black Panther Film Needs

July 25th, 2017 by Marc Comments

This is surely going to be a good year for Marvel’s Black Panther, who is fast emerging as a cult favourite among the brand’s army of fans.

Not only is he about to receive an extremely promising comic book series, for example, but in the eyes of many fans he stole the show in Captain America: Civil War last year. Now, he is braced for a solo movie debut in 2018, with those who are not Marvel fans surprised by the superheroes meteoric rise through the ranks.

With this in mind, we started to think of the four things we think would really bring Blank Panther’s solo cinematic debut.

Here’s what we came up with:

Priceless Comedy Moments

Playing a bit of Roulette is a harmless pastime, and one that many Marvel now partake in thanks to the number of slot and casino game that the brand has inspired. Given how fun these games, we thought it would be fitting if the upcoming Panther film included some casino-inspired comedy moments, with the sprinkling of a few in-jokes relating to Marvel’s popularity among gamblers.

Perhaps the writers could spoof a classic Bond casino scene, in which the affluent King of Wakanda (Black Panther’s fictional birthplace) throws his entire fortune on black in order to retain his kingdom. We are flexible, of course, but some tongue-in-cheek humour would definitely elevate the piece.

One or More Marvel Character Cameos

Let’s be honest, would it really be a genuine MCU release without at least cameo from another Marvel character? We think not, although choosing the lucky superhero would be a far more challenging process.

We certainly think that Ant Man would make a good selection, particularly as he has enjoyed a similarly unexpected rise to become a huge Marvel star. They would probably have a great deal to talk about, and would make for a potentially superb double act.

If not, we would at least like to see Iron Man or the Incredible Hulk make an appearance. Hulk would definitely make an impression, simply because he is usually a show-stealer in every film he appears in.

A Stan Lee Cameo

On the subject of regularly recurring cameos in MCU films, we would love to see yet another appearance from the iconic creator Stan Lee.

The mastermind behind Marvel’s superb cinematic creations, Lee has appeared in a staggering 33 MCU films to date and we would love to see him make Black Panther number 34.

Even at 93 he still cuts an impressive figure, while a cameo from the great man has become an iconic feature of the MCUs’ recent success.

Superhuman Stunts

Finally we come to our deal-breaker, with is the presence of death-defying, superhuman stunts that define all great superhero movies. Sure, we get the call from some commentators to see greater character development in the Black Panther film, but this means little without raucous combat scenes, incredible stunts and action sequences that leave the viewers breathless.

In truth, we don’t even care what form these stunts take, so long as they are explosive and well-paced throughout the film.

We do not want to tell the directors how to do their jobs, of course, but we think that these features will help turn the Black Panther film into a huge, Box Office hit!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
