From Joker to Superboy, Cameron Monaghan joins DC’s Reign of the Supermen

August 18th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Love or loathe Gotham, there’s few people who will deny that Cameron Monaghan isn’t a fantastic Joker. Even if he can’t be called The Joker… but we’ve had that discussion before.

Now it seems the young actor is set for anther important DC Comic role as he will portray Superboy in the DC Animated Reign Of The Superman movie.

The actor had teased the role on his instagram (we’ve posted one below) but it was a Twitter user who managed to confirm the role:

@cameronmonaghan saw this on the digital copy! Can’t wait to see you in “Reign of the Supermen” 2019!

The Tweet seems to include a screengrab of one of the digital features on the movie’s home release and, right there, is Monaghan’s confirmed role… Superboy.

It’s a big leap from Joker to Superboy but we’re confident he’ll nail it.

“When a hulking monster emerges from an underground resting place and begins a mindless rampage, the Justice League is quickly called in to stop the colossal force of nature. But it soon becomes apparent that only Superman can stand against the monstrosity that has been nicknamed Doomsday. Battling their way throughout America, the two fight to a standstill as they reach the heart of Metropolis. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever.”

The Death of Superman features the voice talents of Jerry O’Connell as Superman, Rebecca Romijn as Lois Lane, Rainn Wilson as Lex Luthor, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Christopher Gorham as The Flash, Matt Lanter as Aquaman, Shemar Moore as Cyborg and Jason O’Mara as Batman, Rocky Caroll as Silas Stone and Patrick Fabian as Hank Henshaw.

The Death of Superman will be released on Blu-ray & DVD on August 7th.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
