New images have been seen of William Hurt on the set for the new Black Widow movie and the rumors are flying hard and fast as to why he’s there (check them out here).
We last saw Thaddeus during Tony Stark’s funeral in Avengers: Endgame, he was a recurring character during the early movies until it seemed that he was replaced by Martin Freeman’s Everett Ross (same name but no relation).
So why is Thaddeus now making an appearance in Black Widow?
There are two primary things that we have to consider while looking at these photographs, the first is just how old Thaddeus is looking, William Hurt himself is 69, however he’s looking quite a lot older than when we saw him in Endgame, this brings up the question of where in the timeline is Black Widow set, and if he is older now than he was in Endgame does that mean that Widow is still alive somewhere?
The second is his cane, now yes he is old so it should be expected he needs some kind of assistance, although it’s not the cane itself that’s the issue more than its colour – red. The main theory is that this is a call to the Red Hulk whom Thaddeus turns into in the comics, originally I thought that this is why Everett was brought in and we would be seeing Martin Freeman as a Red Hulk, however with these images now it’s starting to look like it may go another way.
Could these be images of what’s happening during the movie, or possibly some end credit scenes to introduce Red Hulk, but at least we wont have to wait long to find out with Black Widow scheduled for release May 1st 2020, til the time that happens stay tuned for more details as they emerge and stay nerdy people.
