Ok, first the news regarding all the images on this page…

The Daily Mail has posted the images below and video of the new Ghostbusters on set in Boston. And, is that Ecto-Grenades Melissa McCarthy is wearing around her chest? Could this, like the Ecto-2, be a new piece of GB hardware?

And, speaking of Ecto-vehicles, the image at the bottom of the page seems to show two different versions of the Ecto-1 from the set… anyone care to speculate on what that might mean?

In other Ghostbusters news, NerdyShow are reporting some very exciting news for the IDW comic series.

The current mini-series – Ghostbusters Get Real – features the movie characters (Ghostbusters Prime) meeting their animated Real Ghostbusters counterparts but this may just be the beginning: “Expect to see the ghost busting teams from the animated Extreme Ghostbusters and the 2011 video game Sanctum of Slime, which IDW editor Tom Waltz wrote. The ongoing series wrapped up 2014 but the series is coming back, beginning this October with an annual that will lead into a new ongoing by the regular series creative team of Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening.”

This is awesome news! And, with Paul Feig’s reboot on the way, we’ve already speculated that with the GBs having met the Turtles and their animated counterparts, they may also meet the Feig GBs, making that universe a canon of sorts.

We have also talked in the past about the IDW series, by friends of FTN Burnham and Schoening, becoming an animated show and it seems that this is something that has come up several times… so if, like us, you’d love to see this happen, it is perhaps time to let Sony know.

Well, this news – the new ongoing and the fact that an animated show is not out of the question – has rather put us in a good mood. Bustin’ always makes me feel good, after all.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
