Hans Zimmer did a great job on Batman with director Chris Nolan. He then did a great job on Man of Steel with Zack Snyder. He was then in a unique position where he was called in to score Batman V Superman, meaning he had to work out a different take on Gotham’s guardian.
But he’s been very resourceful and come up with an idea that could turn out to be a masterstroke; he’s bringing his friend, musician Junkie XL who he worked with on Megamind, Madagascar 3, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises to name a few, to do the Batman side of the score, while he focuses on Superman: “I agonised over it, so much so that finally, I went, I don’t want to betray what Chris, James Newton Howard and I did. And so I asked Zack [Snyder] if it would be OK if I called a friend in. And I’m going to be working with Junkie XL, who really is a great friend. He just finished the Mad Max score. I said to him, ‘You take care of Batman. I’ll do the other guy.’ And Zack loved that idea. It’s a way out.”
While to two did work together on Man of Steel, this should be interesting as it will give Batman and Superman two very different feels in the movie itself.
