Henry Cavill is really enjoying teasing that Green Lantern is coming to the DC Universe…

March 25th, 2017 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Henry Cavill, the Morrissey of the Superman world, has been posting strange cryptic nonsense on Instagram that seems to be pointing at a Green Lantern appearance. Or something.

A picture of his dog Kal, then a selfie with a Green Lantern statue in the reflection of a window and said “Kal looking for Hal #GreenLantern #Kal”. Kal as in Kal-El, Superman’s birth name, and Hal as in Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

Then a few days ago, Cavill posted a work out photo, where he commented: “Nothing funny to post here, it’s deadly serious because I’ve got to make sure that I’m bigger than Green Lantern….Wait whaaat?”

With the first real Justice League trailer hitting later today, we’re wondering if perhaps we’ll see a hint of Green Lantern in there? Although, even if he is in the movie, we would probably prefer not to know until bums are in seats watching the movie…

Armie Hammer “liked” both of Cavill’s posts. So? Well, Hammer, who was cast as Batman in the doomed Justice League: Mortal is assumed to be up for a mystery DC movie role, possibly Nightwing, while others speculate that he could be Green Lantern (here). Is Hammer having fun as he has done, with the help of Joe Manganiello and Geoff Johns since last December? Or perhaps Green Lantern will make a surprise appearance in Justice League after all, to counter the fan-disappointment that DC seem bent  on replacing him with Cyborg.

Producer Charles Roven has declared that Green Lantern wouldn’t show up in the DC  Extended universe until at least Justice League 2, but that was before Batman v Superman came out. With massive changes happening and Justice League reshoots likely to happen soon, it sounds likely that  we could see a cameo from GL.
