Is Holly Hunter Leslie Thompkins in Batman Vs Superman?

April 9th, 2014 by Marc Comments

OK, this really made us sit up here at FTN Towers… could Holly Hunter be Leslie Thompkins in Batman Vs  Superman (or whatever it’s called)?

When we reported earlier this week (here) that Holly Hunter had signed on to the upcoming Zack Snyder superhero smackdown, we had no idea who she would play, but now Latino Review is claiming they have insider information confirming that she will play Leslie Thompkins or a Leslie replacement character.

Leslie is a big part of the Batman mythos that is forgotten about by filmmakers (though she was a part of Batman: The Animated Series); she was a close friend of Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas, she is a doctor and she was one of the first people on the scen when the Wayne’s were killed. She also knows Bruce’s secret (see below) and patched him up in the early days and is frequently a moral bar for him when he wears the suit.

Hunter would be the right age at 56 with Affleck sitting at 41, so this story could certainly have some weight to it.

This is another piece of news that makes me, personally, excited for this movie that really seems like it wants to dig into the mythos of these characters… 2016 can’t come soon enough!

Snyder’s film stars Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. The film also stars Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and reunites “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

The new film is currently being written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

The film is set to open worldwide on May 6, 2016

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
