He took the world by storm as James Moriarty in the BBC’s Sherlock and now it looks like he’s set to bother another world-class crime solver.

Now, admittedly the source is The Mirror, so we’re not exactly sold, but we do like the idea of this.

The paper is claiming the Irish actor will be hassling Daniel Craig’s Bond in the new movie – Bond 24 for now – the full cast of which is set to be revealed tomorrow morning at 10.50am (UK time): “Film bosses loved his star turn in Sherlock [and] Casting directors thought he was perfect to play a baddie and they wanted to use his existing Sherlock profile – and amp it up to the next level.”

Scott has previously said he wanted to break into movies in a bigger way but didn’t want to be typecast either: “I’ve done a lot of comedy in the theatre but in recent years I’ve done projects that are a little bit more serious in nature.”

File under ‘rumour’ for now, but we’ll the truth in 12 short hours…

Bond 24 is due for UK release on October 23 2015.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
