Is this a big clue that Boba Fett is set for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?

While we impatiently wait for Star Wars: Episode VIII to arrive at the now later date of Christmas 2017, we still have Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to whet our galactic appetites with.

While Rogue One is an anthology film and won’t have any direct link to the current trilogy, it seems like it will be an exciting affair based on details that have emerged over the past couple of weeks.

We heard that Darth Vader is back. That’s undeniably awesome. But for some die-hard fans, the news that Boba Fett will also return to the Star Wars universe is equally exciting. Fett, the badass bounty hunter from the original trilogy, is more a cult character, but holds a special place in the hearts of many fans the world over.

Over the weekend, there was a toy fair going on in Nuremberg, Germany, which gave us some cool new looks at Rogue One, including costumes and weapons. Additionally though, the LEGO set shows Boba Fett’s ship, Slave 1. Originally belonging to Boba’s father, Jango Fett, Slave 1 shows off a slightly different paint job but it’s entirely possible it has gone through some modifications and therefore appear different.

Also, it’s possible that someone else flies Slave in Rogue One, just like we saw Rey and Finn command the Millennium Falcon in The Force Awakens, but it’s interesting to consider the possibility of Fett popping up in the anthology film and we’re still rooting for Daniel Logan in the role.

Rogue One is set between the events of the prequels in the original trilogy, just before A New Hope. Gareth Edwards said last year that fans should expect a slightly different, more human Star Wars piece, with the narrative focusing on ‘human issues’ rather than the black-and-white good vs evil struggle of the Force against the Dark Side.

Cheers to the lads at Squareeyed for the scoop!
