Is this how the Millennium Falcon will look in the Han Solo movie?

September 9th, 2017 by Marc 1 Comment

While everyone is busy worrying about how Han Solo will look now that he’s played by Alden Ehrenreich in the new movie (he looks like this), no-one is considering what the Millennium Falcon will look like.

And it seems this should be wondering just that because it’ll be a bit different than what we know if this report is right.

Word is that when we meet Han in the new movie the Falcon will have a different paint job and  won’t even be his:  “The Falcon is brand new and owned by Lando in the untitled Han Solo film. It has blue detailing all over it with a white base coat of paint.”

He goes on to say that the paint job will resemble the ship as it appeared (very briefly) in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Don’t remember that? Check out this video:

The Falcon at that stage was covered in Blue detail and was nothing like the colour scheme we know now.

It looked more like this:

So, if true, it could be a nice, subtle link between the original movies and the prequels.

It also seems that we may see the ship’s true use: as a cargo ship:

“We finally see the Falcon doing what it is supposed to do with cargo. Basically there’s an attachment that hooks into the front of the ship’s front “forks” and that elongates the front of the ship. It looks seamless but can also detached to drop a shipment of spice if Imperial entanglements get too complicated. The center of the ship allows for access to the cargo.”

Our friends over at SWU pointed out that there is concept art from The Force Awakens showed the Falcon as a cargo ship and this may be how we first see it in the Han Solo movie:

Whatever happens, the Millennium Falcon is a big part of Han’s story, just as important as Chewbacca, so it will have a history that we want to see.

Thoughts?

The untitled Han Solo opens on May 25th, 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Kura, Woody Harrelson (True Detective) as Beckett, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Joonas Suotamo (The Force Awakens) as Chewbacca. The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
