With many believing that Nova was a cert to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – especially with the Corp being in the first movie – director James Gunn has decided to set the record straight and to also speak about the future of Karen Gillan’s curiously beautiful – but blue – Nebula.
Richard Rider AKA Nova was slated to appear in the first movie at one stage (here) but in the end was left out to be developed later in he movie universe. However, Gunn, on his Facebook page, said that: “I don’t want Nova right now because I think Quill being the only earthling is important. That serves the entire moviegoing audience and not just the handful of Nova fans. Sorry if that upsets you. I have nothing against Nova in future movies, but it doesn’t serve the movie right this moment.”
However, one character he seems to really like and want back is Karen Gillan’s Nebula, talking to Yahoo!, he said: “To me, she’s the Boba Fett of the movie. She’s the one that you really dig because she’s the cool one that we need to get more of. I hope to god that we get a chance to see a lot more of Nebula [in future ‘Guardians’ films].”
Big shoes to fill but could she become as famous and cool as Fett? We’d have to say… maybe?
