Jane Levy returning to Evil Dead franchise for first time since 2013?

Hmmmmmm… with Evil Dead Rise having brought the gruesomely fun series back with a vengeance, are we finally getting the sequel to 2013’s Evil Dead reboot that we’ve been asking for now for, well, a decade?

When Evil Dead (2013) came out, it saw director Fede Alvarez bring the series in a new direction but firmly back to its gory roots by telling a story in a new world that is still connected, see below, to the previous movies and star Jane Levy was a real standout as Mia. Fans loved the movie and the set up at the end that promised the return of Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams was sadly never honoured and it’s been a big hole in the franchise ever since.

However, the latest movie firmly sets up the Evil Dead shared universe (or multiverse) and it seems that maybe, just maybe, Levy’s Mia could be returning.

On Twitter a few days back Levy was asked by a fan on social media to return to horror and she replied “I am”:

Then, shortly after, Ghost House Pictures, production company of Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi, replied with a skull emoji:

Needless to say, this has the Evil Dead fans wondering if she’s coming back to finish her story with the Deadites.

Recently Campbell announced he was done playing Ash but then shortly afterward, he teased that this may not be the case, saying he misses Ash: “I’m startin’ to miss him too, just a little bit…”

Bruce Campbell says an animated Evil Dead movie could happen and might we even see him back in live-action as Ash?

So, could this mean we will finally get the meeting of Ash and Mia? After all, Lee Cronin has hinted at a possible crossing over of all the Evil Dead worlds (here), so it would make sense.

However, not a fan on Reddit, who spoke to Raimi at Chicago’s Fan Expo, asked him about the interaction with Levy and he seemed a little coy to answer, saying: “Well, we don’t have a movie in the pipeline yet. With the strike going on, it’s not the right time to work on something like that but once everything is sorted out, we would like to work with her for another horror film.”

The strike is the current strike going on in Hollywood, but it does seem that he wants/is planning to work with Levy again soon… will it be an Evil Dead movie? Well, we can only hope, but if I were a betting man, I’d say ‘yes’.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram
