We may be a year away from Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse (would have been this October originally!) but we’re very, very excited for it.
At the Animation festival Annecy this morning we learned that Scott Pilgrim Vs the World star Jason Schwartzman will star in the movie as the villainous The Spot and he’ll appear in the sequel and the third movie, Beyond the Spider-verse.
The Spot has the ability to use his body to transport himself into any dimension he wants – if you look at the image above, you’ll see Miles’ foot disappear into him and hit Spider-Gwen in the background… this could be a very cool villain to see realised on the big screen.
Miles Morales returns in an epic adventure which transports Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered. Oscar Isaac, Shameik Moore, and Hailee Steinfeld are also providing voices.
The movie is directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. David Callaham, Phil Lord and Chris Miller have penned the first film and are currently writing the second part.
Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse opens June 2nd, 2023. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse opens on March 29th, 2024
