Given the path it had to travel to get made, Fast & Furious 7 was reasonably good – the box office certainly was good – but of all the things in the movie that felt wasted – The Rock was criminally underused – we really wanted Jason Statham to be the ultimate badass. And he just wasn’t.

Well it looks like he’ll have another chance to prove himself in the Fast & Furious franchise!

While we know the next movie is set for April 14th 2017 and rumoured to featured Eva Mendes and New York (not necessarily in that order) we know very little else about plot; though we might now know about the villain of the piece: “We’re already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I’m a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another,” says Statham.

And, that’s it. But it’s enough.

We’re wondering if Deckard Shaw (Statham) is back, does that mean we might see his brother, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) from Fast 6 return too? We reckon the two of them together could be a lot of fun for this series… and fans.

So what say you? Are you glad the Stath is returning? We are…
