Jennifer Lawrence has been a great fit for the shape-shifting Mystique, playing the role excellently in both First Class and Days of Future Past. However, last year, there were murmurings of discontent suggesting that J-Law was ready to up and leave the franchise.

She said the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse was sadly her last one. However, she’s had a dramatic change of heart regarding her future in the mutant world.

Speaking to Empire on the set of Apocalypse, the Oscar-winning actress appeared to suggest she would be up for more in the future, admitting that she loves making the movies.

“I am dying to come back,” she told us.

“I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on anyone’s shoulders.”

However, whether Mystique as a character will feature in future X-Men movies is a different proposition. The contracts of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are both up and that duo is expected to move on from playing Professor Xavier and Magneto respectively.

X-Men: Apocalypse arrives on May 19 (in the UK).
