John Boyega is back in training for Star Wars: Episode VIII and by the looks of things he’s in for an even more physical role than before.

The cast and crew aren’t exactly remaining tight-lipped on the fact that Episode VIII is going to be quite a bit more physical than The Force Awakens, apart from that we know very little about the nature of the next film.

John Boyega tweeted this week showing that he’s hard at it in the gym, and he’s also been getting in some fencing training, judging by a recent instagram post with his sister. We’re not certain, but it looks this could mean that he’ll be getting up close and personal with a lightsaber of his own in the next film.

There’s no definite storylines for Episode VIII just yet, all we know is that last time we saw Finn he was looking rather worse for wear after being struck down by Kylo Ren.

In an interview with Vogue (via Squareeyed), Boyega stated: “[We’re] just starting work on Star Wars VIII, the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again. It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”

So are we John, so are we!

As of yet, there’s still no official title for the film but we can’t imagine it’ll be too long before it is announced. What we do know, is that the film is due to be released on December 15, 2017 and we can’t wait!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
