If there was any movie that has caught movie-going audiences off guard this year, (last year if you live in America) it was John Wick.

The film focused on a retired hitman named John Wick who, when a gang robs him and kills his dog, launches a one-man war on his attackers. John Wick starred Keanu Reeves in the lead role and was directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahhelski.

Last night, Lionsgate confirmed that not only would there be a sequel, but that the original creative team and Keanu Reeves will be returning.

Jason Constantine, President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions at Lionsgate stated, “With such tremendous fan and critical support for ‘John Wick,’ we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell… We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.”

So far, any actual details about the film have been limited. However, a temporary plot summary was released. This synopsis read, “In the follow up to last year’s adrenaline-fueled revenge and redemption thriller, legendary hit man John Wick is back”. Informative.

It is hardly the most detailed plot synopsis in the world, but the announcement alone has us very excited for this movie. Here’s hoping it can live up to the standards of the original.
