Johnny Depp joins Kevin Smith’s new horror/comedy

August 20th, 2014 by Marc Comments

After it was confirmed at SDCC that Kevin Smith’s new movie Tusk was the start of an unofficial horror trilogy (read our original report here) much like his New Jersey trilogy were all unofficially interlinked, we’ve been waiting to hear what woul happen next. And here we go…

The trilogy, which Smith has Dubbed the True North Trilogy will see Depp and his daughter return for the second movie (they cameo in Tusk) called Yoga Hosers. It will also star Smith’s own daughter Harley-Quinn.

Screendaily report: “Depp plays “legendary” Montreal man-hunter Guy Lapointe, who teams up with a pair of Manitoban convenience stories workers – Lily-Rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith – to conquer an ancient evil threat.

“Justin Long and the entire cast of Tusk return for duty on Yoga Hosers, which begins principal photography this week and also stars Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Austin Butler, Adam Brody, Tyler Posey and Jason Mewes.”

At SDCC, Smith spoke about Yoga Hosers: “People always ask me ‘Are you ever going to make a comic book movie?’ This is it – but instead of yet another dude saving the day, our antiheroes are the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two fifteen-year-old girls.”

“I’m absolutely in love with the StarStream team and to say I’m tickled to be making a movie with my only begotten kid is an understatement. Also happy to report that this will be the first PG-13 horror movie I’ve made since Jersey Girl.”

No release date yet but we’re waiting with baited breath…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
