Jurassic World has had a hell of an opening. In only one weekend, it has made $500 Million dollars, setting a new world record. With this in mind, it seems likely now that sequels are being green-lit as we speak.
However, it would seem that Universal was prepared for this. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chris Pratt confirmed that he is signed on for sequels, stating: “I am. They have me for I think 38 movies or something”.
This seems to confirm that Universal had a great deal of faith in the film, and have a plan laid out for the franchise. Although we’re pretty confident he’s not really signed on for 38. Almost sure, anyway.
Earlier this week, it was reported that while director, Colin Trevorrow, was open to the concept of doing a sequel, he had not made up his mind on whether to proceed with directingnit. With all of the success that this movie is receiving, he might want to be reconsidering this stance.
I have yet to see Jurassic World, but based on all of this, it doesn’t seem like I will have to rush to a cinema. It seems like the Park will be open for quite some time.
