King Kong TV show is coming…

With Kong: Skull Island currently delivering the goods at the box office, we now have word that a King Kong TV series is coming.

Yes, because we can’t get enough of the big guy, MarVista Entertainmentand IM Global Television have teamed for King Kong Skull Island which will be written by Jonathan Penner and Stacy Title (The Bye Bye Man). The series will be based on Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong and DeVito ArtWorks’ Skull Island.

The series will pick up from those stories and will feature a female-led, multicultural ensemble which will focus on the magic and mystery of Skull Island and its history.

MarVista CEO Fernando Szew said the series will have “a contemporary, female-focused spin”.

IM Global TV president Mark Stern: “There’s clearly a deep and abiding interest in this timeless story. We love Stacy and Jonathan’s approach to this adaptation and look forward to partnering with MarVista as we bring this gripping tale of survival and adventure to life for a new generation of Kong fans.”

Despite sharing a similar title, the series will have nothing to do with the current Kong/Godzilla movies. Confusing…
