We may not know WHO Star Lord’s father is but now we may know who might play him. And it’s glorious.

The Wrap are reporting that FTN favourite Kurt Russell is James Gunn’s top choice for the role of Star Lord/Peter Quill Snr in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and, no matter who he is, we totally agree.

In the comics, his father is J’son, also known as Jason of Spartax, and he is the Emperor of the Spartoi Empire although Gunn has said the movie will not necessarily follow that plot.

Apparently the role hasn’t been offered yet but it’s only a matter of time.

Russell has so far this year starred in Fast & Furious 7, The Hateful 8 and Bone Tomahawk, so he’s certainly big news right now, so this makes sense in that respect.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista, along with Pom Klementieff are all onboard for the sequel so far which is set for release in May 5th, 2017.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
